 98.79kWp Solar Panels + 100kW Hybrid Inverter + 200kWh BESS Project

Project Background

Strauss & Company, one of Africa’s leading fine art auction houses, operates from South Africa while connecting the continent’s art market to collectors around the world. As a technology-driven auction house, the company relies heavily on stable electricity to broadcast live auctions, film auctioneers, and stream events globally.

However, frequent power interruptions in South Africa created major operational challenges. Auctions require uninterrupted power, and relying on diesel generators brought additional costs and uncertainty due to fluctuating fuel prices. To ensure reliable operations and greater energy independence, Strauss & Company began exploring more sustainable and stable energy solutions.

Project Benefits

To address these challenges, the company installed the SAJ CHS2 all-in-one commercial energy storage systems. The solution features an integrated design that combines inverter and battery storage in a compact unit, allowing easy installation even in limited commercial spaces. With plug-and-play cabling and streamlined setup, the system significantly reduces installation complexity.

The SAJ CHS2 system also offers a 10-year warranty for both the battery and inverter, providing strong reliability and reducing long-term operations and maintenance concerns. By integrating solar energy with energy storage, the solution provides a stable backup power source while reducing reliance on costly diesel generators.

A Greener Path to Modern Art

With reliable solar-powered energy infrastructure, Strauss & Company can now broadcast live auctions confidently, ensuring uninterrupted global engagement with collectors and art enthusiasts. The transition to clean energy not only stabilizes operations but also aligns with the art world’s growing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

By combining technology, culture, and renewable energy, Strauss & Company is demonstrating how the creative industry can embrace sustainable solutions while continuing to connect African art with audiences around the world.
